Martin, well said. So sad but inarguable — and getting worse. But we fight on. There is no question that LONDON’s gain is SANTA MONICA’s loss. What a great gift it’s been to see you and James more frequently. We will miss you!

My thoughts and feelings exactly. It’s heartbreaking to see what is becoming of America. My hope is we get through this and become kinder human beings but…that may be the LaLa land in me speaking.

Reading your post I felt so many impulses to sadness, but I'm excited for you and James in your new adventures. (And yes, Trump has been a spectre in our national election in Australia - the ramifications of his actions for this country and the region manifold. But one thing I'm pleased to report: the conservative candidate's strategy of emulating Trump has been toxic for his Coalition, and -barring a late surge- will be seen to have contributed to the party's widely predicted defeat at the polls. )

I'm happy to be connected to your postings, Martin. I left my home in Port Townsend, Washington, where I was close friends with Joel Singer and James Broughton, now having lived in Thailand for twenty-five years...but I'm still saddened with what is happening in my birth country. Good luck with your transition.
